The ‘high pitched random static’ could be because you don’t have a proper audio codec installed for playback. Probably AC3. Maybe AC3 Filter would help. VOB2MPG just extracts what’s already there, and shouldn’t change anything. It may have problems with multiple audio tracks, but I haven’t ran into that.
